Principal Forward Deployed Engineer - AI-Native Software Development

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to join JetBrains in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will be at the forefront of AI-native software development, working directly with early adopter customers to deploy our JetBrains Central platform. This position is ideal for those who thrive in a consulting environment and have a passion for integrating advanced AI solutions into enterprise systems.

What You'll Do

• Deploy the JetBrains Central platform into complex enterprise environments, enhancing CI/CD systems and internal developer platforms.
• Guide organizations in transitioning from ad-hoc AI experimentation to structured, governed AI-native development workflows.
• Implement enterprise AI governance, focusing on security policies, access management, and data privacy controls.
• Enable observability for AI-driven development, helping organizations understand their AI usage and its impact on productivity.
• Design sustainable AI adoption strategies, ensuring cost visibility and usage controls across multiple model providers.
• Integrate our cloud-based agent execution layer, allowing AI agents to run securely and at scale.
• Collaborate with JetBrains product teams to refine the platform based on real-world deployments and customer feedback.
• Mentor and support other Forward Deployed Engineers, sharing architectural expertise and enhancing the team’s deployment practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience in software-related projects, especially in a customer-facing or consulting environment.
• Familiarity with Java or Python, and experience building or integrating developer platforms.
• Strong understanding of modern development workflows, including CI/CD and internal developer platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in fast-evolving technical environments.
• Willingness to travel to meet customers as needed.

Nice to Have

• Experience with industry-specific solutions such as fintech, telecommunications, or retail.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM platforms, agent frameworks, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Background in solutions engineering, consulting, or forward-deployed engineering roles.
• Knowledge of the JetBrains ecosystem or developer productivity tooling.
