Principal Engineer - AdTech Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Engineer - AdTech Remote to join our innovative team at Delivery Hero. As a leader in the AdTech space, you will help shape the architectural vision of our next-generation AdTech products, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and impactful. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between business goals and technical execution, optimizing the customer experience across more than 10 million orders per day.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to define technical goals and deliver high value to stakeholders and customers.
• Lead architecture discussions across domains and tribes, representing the tribe in reviews and identifying improvements.
• Set high engineering standards through mentorship, especially for Senior and Staff engineers, and lead with best practices.
• Drive future-oriented technical decisions via RFCs and similar tools, aligning teams on scalable solutions and improvements.
• Conduct regular reviews on reliability, scalability, and security at the tribe level.
• Champion agentic coding practices across engineering teams, identifying adoption opportunities and establishing guidelines that improve developer productivity and system resilience.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in building and delivering scalable, distributed systems using microservices, APIs, and data processing (streaming & batch).
• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, particularly with AWS.
• Solid understanding of storage systems (SQL, NoSQL, caching layers) and streaming and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, DataDog) with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and latency.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives across teams within a large engineering organization.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools and workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).

Nice to Have

• Experience with AdTech systems, including low-latency ad serving, measurement and attribution pipelines, and large-scale auctioning and bidding systems.
