About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Port Hospitality and Operations Co-Ordinator to oversee the daily operations of food and beverage services at The Shipyard. This role is crucial in ensuring that our services align with boat schedules and adapt to the needs of passengers and the public. As a Port Hospitality and Operations Co-Ordinator, you will play a vital role in delivering a safe, efficient, and high-quality service, ensuring that everyone using the port has a positive experience.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the day-to-day running of food and beverage operations in The Shipyard, ensuring services run smoothly and in line with daily plans and boat schedules.
- Manage the ordering and deliveries of food and drink supplies, ensuring stock levels meet passenger and public demand.
- Monitor daily revenue and expenditure, reconciling card payments and supplier costs to ensure accurate records.
- Conduct regular food hygiene and safety checks, addressing any issues promptly to maintain high standards.
- Supervise staff on-site, setting daily tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring work is completed safely and to the right standard.
- Support and organize training for staff on food serving, hygiene, and safe working practices.
- Ensure proper clearing, cleaning, and general housekeeping to keep The Shipyard clean and welcoming.
- Write operating procedures to ensure compliance with Health & Safety rules and food safety requirements.
- Keep the Port Security and Operations Team Leader informed about operational issues, including resourcing and safety concerns.
- Check the condition and cleanliness of The Shipyard and its equipment, reporting maintenance needs as necessary.
- Provide extra support during busy periods and adapt to changing boat schedules or passenger numbers.
- Identify opportunities for improving service efficiency, safety, and customer experience.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks to support port and maritime operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a food service environment, delivering high-quality service to customers.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate positively and professionally.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills to meet customer needs effectively.
- Experience in workforce planning, rostering, and recruitment.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities, particularly in food safety and hygiene.
- Commitment to completing all required training to meet Department for Transport MARSEC standards.
- A genuine desire to assist passengers and the public with a positive attitude.
- Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure.
Nice to Have
- Experience in maritime operations or hospitality management.
- Knowledge of manual handling and basic first aid.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role.
