Physics-Informed Machine Learning Engineer - Remote

$60K–$80K/year

About the Role

We're hiring a Physics-Informed Machine Learning Engineer to join our innovative team at Choir Corp. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on our advanced predictive intelligence platform, SENTRIX, which is designed to prevent infrastructure failures by leveraging physics-informed machine learning techniques. You will be instrumental in building models that enhance our platform's predictive capabilities, ensuring organizations can optimize asset usage and prevent costly downtime.

What You'll Do

  • Develop three physics-informed neural network (PINN) models, each achieving over 20% F1 improvement over existing statistical baselines.
  • Choose the appropriate backbone architecture for each dataset, including LSTM, GNN, or hybrid models.
  • Set up a complete Docker environment (TimescaleDB, Grafana, Jupyter, PyTorch) for model training and validation.
  • Write and debug custom loss functions that encode physics constraints for the models.
  • Train the models on provided datasets and ensure results are logged into the database for automatic dashboard updates.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with the team via Slack and email, participating in weekly calls to discuss progress and challenges.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch is a must; you will be building models in this framework.
  • Experience with LSTM or GNN is essential; familiarity with both is ideal.
  • Prior work in time-series classification, regression, or anomaly detection.
  • Ability to run Docker on your laptop with at least 6 GB of free RAM.
  • Published work on PINNs or physics-informed ML is highly preferred.
  • Background in physics or engineering, with knowledge in thermodynamics, electrochemistry, or electrical power systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with C-MAPSS or prognostics research datasets.
  • Familiarity with PyTorch Geometric for GNN implementations.
  • Strong MS degree in a relevant field; a PhD is not required.

What We Offer

  • Flexible remote work arrangements, allowing you to work from anywhere in the world.
  • Part-time engagement of approximately 15-20 hours per week.
  • Asynchronous communication to accommodate your schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge platform that serves various industries, including energy and data centers.
  • Potential for ongoing engagement as SENTRIX scales to production deployments.
