Tech Lead - Engineering for Remote Teams

About the Role

We are seeking a Tech Lead, Engineering to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. As a Tech Lead, you will drive the architecture, design, and execution of complex backend and data systems, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and performant under real-world conditions. This Tech Lead remote position combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, guiding teams to deliver solutions that directly impact business outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Identify and prioritize high-impact technical and product problems, translating business objectives into technical solutions.
• Design, guide, and own architecture for backend, database, and distributed systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
• Lead execution through other engineers, providing mentorship, delegation, and alignment across teams.
• Partner with Product and business stakeholders to ensure technical work drives measurable business outcomes.
• Establish standards for system performance, database optimization, concurrency control, and data layer trade-offs.
• Drive consistency, quality, and operational excellence in development practices while fostering innovation.
• Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of full-stack software engineering experience with deep expertise in relational databases (SQL) and distributed systems.
• Proven experience in system architecture, backend design, Node.js, and TypeScript, and scalable service-oriented solutions.
• Strong understanding of queues, message brokers, microservices, load balancing, and end-to-end system design.
• Demonstrated ability to reason about performance, concurrency, transactions, and indexing strategies.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, driving alignment, and delivering outcomes through influence.
• Solid product and business acumen, able to make pragmatic technical trade-offs with measurable impact.
• Working knowledge of frontend frameworks (React) and integration implications preferred.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
• Comfortable working remotely in a distributed global team environment.
