Mid-Senior Backend Engineer - PHP & Cloud Technologies

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Mid-Senior Backend Engineer (remote) to join our Marketing Core Technology team at ABOUT YOU. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Marketing Data Science, Tracking, and Marketing Data Analytics teams to build best-in-class marketing automation tools and resilient data engineering processes. As a Backend Engineer, you will translate complex business and marketing problems into reliable technical solutions, contributing to the optimization of marketing spend and driving business insights.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and RESTful APIs using PHP and modern frameworks like Laravel and Symfony.
• Develop scalable backend services and full-stack applications, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Manage cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
• Design and optimize database schemas for both relational and non-relational database management systems.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Implement containerization using Docker to enhance application deployment processes.
• Ensure system performance optimization and monitoring through tools like Google Cloud Logging and Monitoring.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to maintaining clean, well-documented codebases.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of proven backend engineering experience, particularly with event-driven architectures and high-scale data orchestration.
• Advanced proficiency in modern PHP (8.2+) and frameworks such as Laravel (11/12) or Symfony (6/7).
• Strong SQL skills (MySQL or PostgreSQL), including schema design and complex query optimization.
• Experience building resilient enterprise-grade integrations and leveraging caching strategies.
• Proficiency with observability tools like Datadog and advanced debugging techniques.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and automation using Docker and Bash scripting.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Google BigQuery for large-scale data processing.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for managing cloud resources.
• Domain experience in marketing technology and mobile event attribution.
