Mechanical Engineer - Remote Position
About the Role
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer - Remote to join our team at Vertiv, a global leader in mission-critical infrastructure technologies. This role is essential for ensuring a seamless transition from design to production, focusing on manufacturability, cost optimization, and product scalability. With a strong emphasis on Engineering-to-Manufacturing (E2M) processes, you will play a key role in our innovative projects.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using PTC Creo.
- Apply DFM/DFA principles to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing and assembly.
- Drive the E2M process, supporting product transition from concept to serial production.
- Produce and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, industrialization, quality, and supply chain teams.
- Support prototyping, validation builds, and production ramp-up phases.
- Work closely with suppliers to validate design feasibility and manufacturing processes.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, design simplification, and performance improvement.
- Manage engineering changes through CR (Change Request) and CO (Change Order) processes.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 3–7+ years of experience in mechanical design with E2M or industrialization exposure.
- Strong proficiency in PTC Creo (preferred CAD system).
- Solid understanding of DFM/DFA methodologies.
- Experience with PLM systems and BOM management.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, casting, sheet metal, plastics, etc.).
- Experience supporting production ramp-up and manufacturing validation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on mindset.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in complex or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
- Experience working with global suppliers and contract manufacturers.
