Mechanical Designer - Transformers (Remote)

About the Role

We are looking for a Mechanical Designer - Transformers to join our team at ERMCO, a leader in manufacturing distribution transformers and engineered electrical solutions. This Mechanical Designer remote position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of transformers and related components. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards while advancing your career in a supportive environment.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the design and development of transformer-related enclosures, assemblies, and components under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEEE, UL, IEC, and CSA during the design process.
  • Contribute to failure analysis efforts by collecting data and assisting in identifying potential causes under supervision.
  • Collaborate with teams across manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service to integrate designs into production.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design notes, reports, and test results.
  • Participate in design reviews and discussions, providing data and technical support.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory requirements to support compliant designs.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts by participating in process and product enhancements.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field or related technical certification.
  • 2-3 years of experience in drafting or mechanical design, particularly in transformer or related product design.
  • Proficiency with design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for transformers or components.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills in transformer or related product design.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Organized and capable of managing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Hands-on transformer experience and/or product knowledge with technical potential is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with advanced design software and tools.
  • Knowledge of energy transition technologies and grid modernization.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
