Manager, R&D Science & Engineering - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Manager, R&D Science & Engineering to lead our innovative team at Sandia National Laboratories. This remote position offers the opportunity to coordinate cutting-edge research in navigation warfare technologies, contributing to national security and technology innovation.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate and oversee research across multiple principal investigators to discover, test, and implement new navigation warfare solutions.
• Manage a diverse workforce, including hiring, professional development, and performance assessment.
• Provide leadership and guidance to shape the culture of the department, including conflict resolution and resource management.
• Serve as a connection point for the organization’s work with potential beneficiaries, collaborators, and customers.
• Promote excellence in managing and coordinating specific deliverables, program plans, budgets, and staffing requirements.
• Establish trust-based relationships with customers and stakeholders to foster a collaborative work environment.
• Travel to various locations within the country for collaboration and interaction with academic partners and sponsors.
• Ensure the security and safety of operations within the department, managing sensitive and classified information.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and eight (8) years of directly relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain US DoE Q-level security clearance and SCI access.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing funding and execution of R&D programs.
• Strong communication skills for developing and delivering presentations and proposals.

Nice to Have

• Graduate degree in science or engineering (MS or Ph.D.).
• Experience in navigation warfare research and development.
• Familiarity with the Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) program.
• Experience interacting with the US Intelligence Community.
• Active SCI Security Clearance.
