Lead SCADA Engineer - Remote Position for Critical Infrastructure
About the Role
We are seeking a Lead SCADA Engineer to join our team remotely in the United States. As a key player in our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing SCADA system architecture and development across critical infrastructure projects. This role is designed for seasoned professionals with extensive experience in SCADA systems, supervisory control, and system integration. Your expertise will help us deliver scalable, secure, and reliable SCADA solutions that are essential for high-availability environments.
What You'll Do
- Define and maintain SCADA system architecture, development standards, and best practices.
- Lead the development of SCADA code, scripts, and reusable components to ensure systems are scalable and maintainable.
- Serve as the senior technical lead for SCADA systems across multiple projects, collaborating with project managers and engineers.
- Translate operational requirements into high-level SCADA system solutions, identifying technical risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Review and approve SCADA system designs, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity considerations and design intent.
- Mentor mid- and senior-level engineers, promoting continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Installation and Site Testing (IST), and commissioning as a senior technical authority.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving critical system issues during high-risk events.
Requirements
- 6-8+ years of experience engineering SCADA control systems in mission-critical environments.
- Strong understanding of SCADA architecture, data modeling, and alarm management.
- Proven ability to review and improve complex control system implementations.
- Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- SCADA platform certifications (e.g., Ignition Gold, AVEVA/Wonderware).
- Ongoing professional development in control systems or automation.
