Lead Platform Engineer - Python & AWS (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer (Python, AWS) to join our dynamic team. This role offers the flexibility of remote work while requiring occasional onsite presence in Boston, NYC, Radnor, or Chicago. As a Lead Platform Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and building tools that empower our internal software engineering teams, enabling them to deliver high-quality applications efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement robust platform solutions that support over 50 developers, enhancing their productivity and efficiency.
• Utilize your expertise in Python and AWS to develop scalable cloud-native applications and services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and improve deployment processes.
• Build reusable components and automation frameworks that facilitate continuous integration and delivery.
• Lead initiatives to standardize best practices across the development lifecycle, reducing friction and enhancing collaboration.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Engage in problem-solving sessions to tackle complex technical challenges and drive impactful solutions.
• Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to continuously improve platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on platform development.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, Lambda, S3, and RDS.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and Jenkins.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Experience with test-driven development and agile methodologies.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

Nice to Have

• AWS certification.
• Experience with container orchestration using ECS or EKS.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch and X-Ray.
• Experience working with offshore development teams.
