About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist - Innovation to join our team at Great West Casualty. This remote Lead Data Scientist position offers the chance to influence strategy at one of the most respected names in trucking insurance. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our business through data-driven insights and innovative solutions.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with senior executives to envision future business directions and market opportunities.
• Serve as the primary investigator for significant market opportunities and emerging threats.
• Design and execute studies to drive strategic business innovation and answer complex business questions.
• Translate complex data and analytical results into clear, actionable insights for executive and business audiences.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, educating staff on emerging technologies and translating complex technical results into actionable insights.
• Mentor other data scientists and help mature the practice of data science within the company.

Requirements

• PhD with 5+ years of experience in data science and/or management consulting; or MBA/Master's degree with 10+ years of experience.
• Proven experience leading disruptive product, market, customer, or technology assessment studies at scale.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong methodological rigor.
• Highly proficient in data science methods and practices, especially in managing financial risk.
• Strong writing, visual creation, and presentation skills.
• Working knowledge of data transformation, data visualization, and statistical tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python, Tableau).

Nice to Have

• Insurance industry experience.
• Experience with AI/GenAI technologies.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Qlik and Snowflake.
