Laboratory Technician - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team at British Sugar. This role offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while supporting our Tarehouse Lab operations. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and safety of our laboratory operations, especially during the campaign period from September to February.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate safe and effective Tarehouse Lab operations, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
• Perform cleaning and regular maintenance of laboratory equipment and surrounding areas.
• Fulfill contractual obligations to the NFU within the Tarehouse Lab operation, including managing IPA-lead parameters.
• Support wider Tarehouse and beet intake activities during periods of lower sample numbers or completed maintenance.
• React swiftly to laboratory issues by interacting with engineering teams or replacing parts as necessary.
• Assist with annual Tarehouse maintenance activities and support the soil sampling service.
• Participate in annual root dig activities, contributing to our operational success.

Requirements

• GCSE/GCE or equivalent level qualification in a scientific subject.
• Previous experience working in a factory environment is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with manual engineering-type tasks.
• A positive ‘can do’ attitude and ability to handle a mobile role.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.
• Good organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a laboratory setting.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.
• Familiarity with agricultural practices related to soil sampling.
