Kubernetes Platform Tech Lead - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Kubernetes Platform Tech Lead to join our team at Trade Republic. This Kubernetes Platform Tech Lead remote position offers you the chance to lead our Kubernetes platform initiatives and drive the infrastructure layer that supports our engineering teams. You will be instrumental in enhancing our platform's capabilities and ensuring that our services are reliable and scalable for millions of customers.

What You'll Be Doing

• Set the availability standards for our Kubernetes clusters, ensuring mission-critical services meet their availability targets.
• Define the networking architecture that supports our entire fleet, focusing on VPC design, private endpoints, and cross-account connectivity.
• Drive the automation of cluster and addon management to create fully self-healing workflows.
• Establish resource policies and workload isolation boundaries to prevent issues before they reach production.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, taking full ownership of the systems you build and operate.
• Define and drive the long-term Kubernetes platform strategy, aligning infrastructure decisions with broader engineering and compliance goals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure or platform engineering with a strong technical leadership background.
• Deep hands-on expertise in Kubernetes, including cluster architecture, scaling, and high availability design.
• Strong mastery of networking concepts such as CNI, ingress, DNS, and service mesh.
• Experience operating multi-region, multi-cloud environments at scale.
• Proficient in automating the full cluster lifecycle with self-service enablement for developers.
• Solid backend engineering experience, preferably with Go or another strong programming language.

Nice to Have

• Experience in defining technical strategy and driving cross-team initiatives.
• Ability to communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs effectively.
• Familiarity with GitOps practices for infrastructure management.
