Junior Backend Software Developer - Remote Position
About the Role
We are seeking a talented Junior Backend Software Developer to join our dynamic team supporting a high-visibility federal modernization program. What You'll Do
- Develop, create, and modify computer applications software or specialized utility programs to meet project requirements.
- Design and develop microservices within a cloud-native environment, primarily using AWS GovCloud.
- Operate and maintain enterprise-scale production systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Analyze user needs and develop robust software solutions aligned with organizational and mission objectives.
- Design and develop databases within application areas, collaborating with team members as needed.
- Apply principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to system design and optimization.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and mentoring junior developers to promote engineering excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience or Associate’s Degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Active Tier 3 Secret Security Clearance (or higher).
- Proficiency in Java and Object-Oriented Programming.
- Experience developing microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native applications.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and automated deployment tools.
- Experience designing, developing, and operating solutions within AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures and technologies such as Apache Kafka, Pub/Sub patterns, streaming, or event sourcing.
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks, including participation in Scrum or SAFe ceremonies.
Nice to Have
- Experience working within GitOps practices using tools like GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, or ArgoCD.
- Proficiency with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
