Jigs & Fixtures Designer - Remote Opportunity with Relocation Support

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Jigs & Fixtures Designer remote to join our team at MS Companies. This role is pivotal in the design, development, modification, and validation of mechanical equipment and tooling that supports high-volume production. As a Jigs & Fixtures Designer remote, you will leverage your advanced mechanical design expertise while engaging hands-on with shop floor operations to ensure that our tooling is robust, repeatable, and cost-effective.

What You'll Do

• Design, modify, and improve mechanical equipment, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing layouts using CAD tools.
• Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) including GD&T per ASME standards.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure dimensional accuracy and repeatability.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and validation of assembly and welding equipment.
• Participate in line trials and launch activities to verify design intent and process capability.
• Conduct cycle time analysis, ROI studies, and time chart development to justify tooling investments.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and external vendors.
• Manage workflow, project schedules, milestone tracking, and budget oversight.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• 3–7+ years of experience designing and building jigs and fixtures in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles and mechanical design fundamentals.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other engineering software including simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
• Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated project management capability including schedule and budget management.

Nice to Have

• Welding experience preferred.
• Automotive tooling design experience preferred.
• Experience in high-volume industrial manufacturing environments.
