Industrial Design Intern - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Industrial Design Intern to join our innovative team at Verkada. This remote internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge security products. You will work closely with experienced designers and hardware engineers, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic tech environment.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop cameras, access control systems, sensors, and other connected devices.
• Contribute to the visual and physical language of our brand through hardware design.
• Utilize user-centric thinking to align our brand with customer needs.
• Support the design team in conducting research on user needs, market trends, and competitive analysis.
• Assist in the development and refinement of product prototypes, participating in user testing and feedback sessions.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering to explore and test new product concepts.
• Stay current with design trends, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Contribute concepts and problem-solving across multiple projects.

Requirements

• A website or digital portfolio is required for consideration.
• Senior-level industrial design students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree, as well as recent graduates.
• Strong sensitivity to form and function, attention to detail, and conceptual clarity.
• Proficiency in 2D & 3D digital tools like Solidworks, Rhino, Fusion360, Keyshot, Adobe Suite.
• Strong physical prototyping skills, particularly in 3D printing and working with wood and foam.
• Experience collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineers.
• Ability to generate and communicate design vision effectively.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cameras, environmental sensors, or connected devices.
• Experience designing products for harsh environments.
