About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Associate Quality Engineer - Software (QA) to join our team at Standard Bots. This role is perfect for those who are passionate about robotics and automation and want to contribute to innovative solutions. As an Associate Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our software products meet the highest quality standards. This position requires you to be present at our Glen Cove robotics factory five days a week, where you will collaborate with experienced engineers and work on exciting projects in the field of automation.

What You'll Do

  • Write, maintain, and extend automated test suites (end-to-end, integration, and regression) for Standard Bots’ software stack.
  • Develop and improve test automation frameworks to enhance testing efficiency.
  • Build internal tooling and scripts to support QA workflows, including log parsing, data extraction, and test reporting.
  • Execute manual and automated regression testing across software releases to catch regressions before they reach customers.
  • Collaborate with developers to reproduce, isolate, and document defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting data.
  • Review feature specifications and pull requests for testability and edge case coverage.
  • Contribute to test case design as new features ship, ensuring functional coverage across complex robotic environments.
  • Participate in release QA processes, including gated test runs and release candidate validation.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of software engineering or test automation experience (or equivalent educational background).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Bash.
  • Familiarity with test frameworks (e.g., Playwright, pytest, Jest) and CI/CD concepts.
  • Experience writing automated tests is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to write utility scripts for data processing, log analysis, or workflow automation.
  • Comfortable working in Linux/CLI environments.
  • Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ROS2, Docker, or robotics software stacks.
  • Familiarity with network protocols (SSH, HTTP, MQTT) and debugging networked systems.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or system-level testing.
  • Background in embedded systems or real-time applications.
  • Experience working with robotic systems (6-axis arms, collaborative robots, or similar industrial/research platforms).
