Hogan Engineer II - Remote Position at PenFed Credit Union

About the Role

PenFed Credit Union is seeking a Hogan Engineer II (Remote) to join our team. This role is crucial for enhancing and maintaining the Hogan application within our core banking environment. As a Hogan Engineer II, you will engage in technical analysis, design, and implementation of application enhancements and production fixes. This position offers the flexibility of remote work from anywhere in the United States.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain COBOL programs and JCL, supporting API integration and system integration efforts.
• Execute SDLC activities including requirements analysis, technical design, coding, unit testing, and UAT support for Hogan modules.
• Participate in Technical Review Board and peer review processes to ensure adherence to coding standards and project deliverables.
• Provide production support for batch failures and online transaction issues, troubleshooting hardware or software failures.
• Collaborate with senior technicians on design solutions involving Hogan modules and database structures.
• Engage in technical discussions with business stakeholders and IT team members to support project initiatives.
• Follow change management protocols and maintain documentation standards.
• Support functional, regression, and performance testing strategies to verify system integrity.

Requirements

• Associates or Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred; or a combination of education and a minimum of six years of related work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in Hogan Applications Development or IT Delivery Projects.
• Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and Easytrieve; familiarity with REXX or Assembler is a plus.
• Experience with batch processing and APIs, and knowledge of financial operations.
• Ability to present system designs for user approval and provide solutions to identified system issues.

Nice to Have

• 5+ years with large-scale, high-transaction software implementations.
• Experience with Hogan upgrades and AI tools in development work.
• Knowledge of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning.
