About the Role

We are seeking an Executive Director of Human Resources to join Lakeshore College in a remote capacity. This role is pivotal in providing leadership and oversight of the Human Resources department, ensuring that our college supports its employees effectively. As the Executive Director, you will play a critical role in enhancing employee relations and fostering a positive work environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic HR leadership and serve as a trusted advisor to the Vice President of Administration.
  • Oversee recruitment, compensation, benefits, payroll, and employee records.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding human resources matters.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement best practices to maintain a positive work culture.
  • Coordinate HR operations and ensure policies are communicated clearly and administered fairly.
  • Manage the HR budget and participate in internal committees to represent HR perspectives.
  • Lead the Incident Management Team as the HR lead and support organizational changes.
  • Conduct salary and benefit surveys to analyze and improve compensation structures.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline is required.
  • 8-9 years of related occupational experience, with leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • HR-related certification such as SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in higher education human resources.
  • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion strategies.
  • Familiarity with employee performance improvement plans.
