Entry-Level Systems Engineer - Aerospace & Defense
About the Role
We are seeking an Entry-Level Systems Engineer to join our team at Collins Aerospace. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the aerospace and defense industry, where you will contribute to the design and development of military software-defined radio products. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a vital role in shaping communication solutions that connect militaries around the world. This position is based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is an onsite role.
What You'll Do
- Perform analysis, architecture, and design at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
- Conduct functional analyses, trade studies, and requirements allocation to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline engineering teams to create total system solutions addressing both domestic and international customer needs.
- Develop verification criteria and plans for system-level requirements, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
- Engage in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
- Ability to perform technical planning and system integration.
- Experience with tools such as DOORS, MATLAB, C++, and Python is preferred.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering.
- Experience with the systems development process, including requirements capture, design, and verification/validation.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with program stakeholders.
