Engineering Manager - Growth Team Lead (Remote)

About the Role

Checkr is seeking an Engineering Manager - Growth Team Lead (Remote) to spearhead our growth initiatives. As a pivotal member of our team, you will leverage your extensive experience in front-end engineering to lead and inspire a talented engineering team. This role focuses on enhancing Checkr’s self-serve business, driving customer acquisition, activation, expansion, and retention.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a team dedicated to growth-focused initiatives, such as increasing self-service customer conversions and improving onboarding experiences.
• Drive technical vision and motivate the team to achieve company objectives and bring innovative products to market.
• Partner closely with product management to build new features and enhance existing ones.
• Reduce technical debt and sustainably scale our architecture while optimizing engineering processes.
• Foster relationships with cross-functional teams to drive results and enhance collaboration.
• Mentor team members and nurture their career aspirations through stretch assignments and opportunities.
• Represent the team in planning and product meetings, advocating for their needs and contributions.
• Optimize engineering processes and policies to drive velocity and quality.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as an engineering manager and 8+ years as an engineer.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong skills in critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving.
• Experience managing quality incidents as both a technical lead and communication lead.
• Deep understanding of service architecture, system design, and lean software development principles.
• Ability to make high-level prioritization decisions quickly and thoughtfully.
• Experience with TDD, pair programming, and agile methodologies.
• A player mindset with a strong bias for action and ownership.
