Engineering Director - Compiler & Architecture (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Director, Compiler & Architecture to join OLIX, a pioneering company in the AI sector. As an Engineering Director remote, you will lead a talented team dedicated to refining our Optical Tensor Processing Unit (OTPU) architecture. This role is crucial in bridging the gap between innovative technology and real-world applications, ensuring our solutions deliver unmatched performance and energy efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Set the vision and long-term direction for the Compiler and Architecture organization, ensuring alignment with OLIX's strategic goals.
• Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Develop managers who prioritize customer outcomes and reliability, beyond mere delivery metrics.
• Establish architectural principles and quality standards that guide the organization.
• Shape the technical direction for machine learning inference on OLIX hardware, collaborating with ASIC and FPGA teams for effective hardware-software co-design.
• Translate long-term business objectives into actionable priorities, maximizing customer and business outcomes.
• Create a high-performance culture that balances innovation, speed, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Proven engineering leadership with a track record of delivering complex initiatives in fast-paced environments.
• Experience in scaling organizations, including designing teams, hiring senior talent, and developing strong managers.
• Deep technical expertise in compilers and architectures for distributed ML inference, including LLVM, MLIR, Shardy, and XLA/OpenXLA.
• Outstanding communication skills, capable of articulating a compelling technical vision to attract top-tier talent.
• A people leader who empowers engineers and managers to perform at their best.

Nice to Have

• Experience with SystemC and high-performance computing.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools.
• Previous experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
