About the Role

We are looking for a Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our team remotely. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to manage and optimize SQL databases, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. What You'll Do

• Respond to database problems that arise and carry out periodic maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Help write and optimize in-application SQL statements to enhance performance.
• Ensure the security and availability of databases while preparing documentation and specifications.
• Handle common database procedures such as upgrades, backups, recovery, and migrations.
• Profile server resource usage and optimize as necessary to maintain efficiency.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to address database-related issues.
• Protect the database against threats or unauthorized access, ensuring adequate backups are in place.
• Report on metrics regarding usage and performance, suggesting improvements for database maintenance.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in SQL database administration.
• Proficient in optimizing large and complicated SQL statements.
• Experience with modern relational databases and database engines.
• Familiarity with GitLab and versioning tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot common database issues effectively.
• Good verbal communication skills for liaising with IT project managers and database programmers.
• Knowledge of best practices in relational database management.

• Experience with SISS packages.
• Capability to plan resource requirements from high-level specifications.
• Skilled in configuring popular database engines and orchestrating clusters.
