Senior Full Stack PHP Developer with AI Experience - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack PHP Developer with AI Experience to join our team remotely. In this role, you will manage the entire software development lifecycle, including database design, front-end and back-end development, AI integrations, testing, and deployment for a suite of scientific web applications.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using PHP and the CodeIgniter framework.
• Build robust server-side logic, manage database schemas, and optimize SQL queries (experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL is a plus).
• Develop responsive and interactive user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (experience with React is a plus).
• Create and consume RESTful APIs to integrate with third-party services and internal systems.
• Identify and fix bottlenecks, improve application speed, and ensure high availability.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code while participating in peer code reviews.
• Design and implement UI components for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), allowing users to query mission-critical documentation.
• Architect "Smart Form" features using LLMs to assist users in completing web application data entry forms.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or a scientific field (engineering, physics), or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of proven PHP development experience with strong proficiency in server-side logic and PHP CodeIgniter web frameworks.
• 2+ years of proven experience building and deploying applications within the PHP CodeIgniter framework.
• Hands-on AI experience integrating LLM-powered systems and ML-backed services into production-grade platforms.
• Strong understanding of front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Knowledge of AI UX best practices and experience integrating frontend applications with AI services (Google Vertex AI, OpenAI, or Azure OpenAI).
• Experience with agile development processes and tools such as Jira and Git.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Python, Django, and ReactJS.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and tools like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar.
• Experience developing event-driven architectures and asynchronous workflows.
