Director of Platform Engineering - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We're seeking a hands-on Director of Platform Engineering to join our dynamic team at Manatal. This remote Director of Platform Engineering role offers an exciting opportunity to lead technical initiatives and drive the architectural excellence of our platform. As a key player in our organization, you will oversee the entire project lifecycle, ensuring that our solutions are scalable, reliable, and efficient.

What You'll Do

• Lead major technical initiatives, ensuring architectural soundness and long-term impact.
• Oversee full project lifecycles from design to deployment, focusing on speed, quality, and reliability.
• Manage the AWS and Kubernetes platform, ensuring reliability, security, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to maintain operational best practices.
• Own CI/CD pipelines to improve build and deploy reliability, reducing lead time and friction in the developer workflow.
• Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards to maintain observability and reliability.
• Build and manage on-call rotations and incident response processes.
• Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and clear priorities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on production web applications.
• 5+ years of platform engineering experience, particularly with AWS and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on leadership experience, capable of designing, implementing, and debugging code and infrastructure.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly using Terraform.
• Strong communication skills in English for high-stakes technical discussions.
• Willingness to relocate to Bangkok or work remotely with a multicultural team.

Nice to Have

• Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Familiarity with backend technologies such as Python (Django, FastAPI) and databases like PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience in a startup environment, demonstrating a proactive and energetic approach.
