Director of Platform Engineering - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Platform Engineering to join our innovative team at Manatal. This remote opportunity allows you to lead major technical initiatives while ensuring architectural soundness and scalability. As a key player in our organization, you will oversee full project lifecycles from design to deployment, focusing on speed, quality, and reliability.

What You'll Do

• Drive Technical Excellence: Lead major technical initiatives, ensuring architectural soundness, scalability, and long-term impact.
• Own Delivery: Oversee full project lifecycles from design to deployment with a focus on speed, quality, and reliability.
• Release Management: Run a predictable release process with progressive delivery and strong operational readiness.
• Platform Ownership: Manage the AWS and Kubernetes platform end-to-end, including reliability, security, performance, and cost.
• Hands-On Execution: Write code, review PRs, debug production issues, and improve core services as needed.
• Infrastructure as Code: Design and maintain Terraform-managed environments and operational best practices.
• CI/CD and Velocity: Own CI/CD pipelines and improve build and deploy reliability.
• Observability and Reliability: Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards.
• On-Call Leadership: Manage on-call rotations and incident response.
• Technical Standards: Set and enforce engineering standards for architecture and code quality.
• Team Leadership: Mentor engineers and maintain clear priorities.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Product and stakeholders to align platform work with business goals.

Requirements

• Software Engineering Background: 8+ years in production web applications.
• Platform Engineering Background: 5+ years with AWS and Kubernetes.
• Hands-On Leadership: Experience in designing and reviewing code and infrastructure.
• Startup Mindset: Thrives in fast-moving environments and takes ownership.
• Infrastructure as Code Experience: Proven Terraform ownership across multiple environments.
• Delivery and Releases: Owns CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Observability Stack: Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog and Prometheus.
• On-Call Operations: Willingness to manage on-call rotations.
• Communication Skills: Clear communication and collaboration across teams.
• English Fluency: Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Relocation Readiness: Willing to relocate to Bangkok.

Nice to Have

• Experience with modern technologies such as Python, Django, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with GitOps, GitHub Actions, and other CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of observability tools like Grafana.
