About the Role

Join BNSF Railway as a Construction Helper/Driver, a vital role in our team that values safety, inclusion, and excellence. As a Construction Helper/Driver, you will support the movement of essential products and materials that help feed, clothe, supply, and power communities throughout America and the world.

What You'll Do

  • Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of railroad bridges, tunnels, culverts, and other structures.
  • Repair timber bridges, trestles, and tunnel supports, and repair/replace structural steel members of bridges.
  • Place and finish concrete surfaces and perform conventional carpentry work.
  • Read blueprints to determine required materials and dimensions, lay out work, and mark cutting and assembly lines.
  • Assemble, cut, shape materials, fastening with appropriate fasteners, rigging materials for hoisting, and operating company vehicles as directed.

Requirements

  • Able to work safely in diverse and extreme weather conditions.
  • Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be able to obtain one within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 90 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English clearly and accurately.
  • Able to meet travel requirements for job sites, sometimes for extended periods.

  • Experience in construction or maintenance roles.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Previous experience operating heavy machinery.
