Class 2 HGV Driver - Sainsbury's Local Deliveries

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Class 2 HGV Driver to join our team for Sainsbury's local deliveries. This Class 2 HGV Driver role is essential for ensuring that goods are delivered safely and efficiently to Sainsbury’s convenience stores. As a Class 2 HGV Driver, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service while adhering to transport regulations. This position offers a competitive salary of £17.93 per hour, with opportunities for overtime and comprehensive benefits.

What You'll Do

• Operate a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle in compliance with road safety and company standards.
• Carry out multi-drop deliveries to Sainsbury’s convenience stores and regional distribution centers (RDCs).
• Safely unload caged or palletized goods using tail lift and kerbside delivery methods.
• Ensure all delivery documentation is accurately completed, signed, and returned.
• Collect empty cages, returns, or agreed waste materials from stores.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
• Deliver excellent customer service, acting as a professional representative of Wincanton Dedicated Grocery and Sainsbury’s.
• Comply with tachograph regulations, driver hours legislation, and company transport policies.
• Attend all mandatory training sessions and maintain up-to-date CPC certification.

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) license.
• Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
• Minimum of 12 months HGV driving experience.
• Successful completion of a Drug & Alcohol Test at Interview Stage.
• Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Experience in retail or commercial delivery environments is desirable.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
