Character Designer - Remote Position at DreamWorks Animation

About the Role

DreamWorks Animation is seeking a talented Character Designer to join our creative team in a fully remote capacity. As a Character Designer remote position, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of original characters that resonate with audiences worldwide. We are looking for adventurous dreamers who can bring their unique visions to life and help us tell compelling stories through animation.

What You'll Do

• Demonstrate strong conceptual ideas and visual creativity to form original characters.
• Explore and generate a large quantity of diverse ideas for film characters, including shape variation, caricature, and stylization.
• Build pages of deeper development for characters, including facial expressions, body gestures, poses, and attitudes.
• Design costumes and provide color styling for characters.
• Work closely with Modelers to understand how 2D drawings inform 3D shapes.
• Communicate progress of work to production staff and ensure all deadlines are met.

Requirements

• Ability to think and design from concept to finish independently.
• Strong understanding of design principles and adaptability to a broad range of styles.
• Solid understanding of 3D form.
• Proficient in Photoshop; knowledge of Maya and/or ZBrush is a plus.
• Strong time management skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience in animation or character design.
• Familiarity with remote work tools and collaboration software.
