Big Data Systems Engineer - Remote Position at KBR

About the Role

Join KBR as a Big Data Systems Engineer in a remote position where your contributions will significantly impact national security. As a key member of our National Security Solutions (NSS) team, you will work on the deployment and integration of advanced data analytic projects, specifically the Cloud Hybrid Edge-to-Enterprise Evaluation Test & Analysis Suite (CHEETAS). This role is vital in ensuring the effectiveness of our systems within the Department of Defense (DoD) environments.

What You'll Do

• Deploy and integrate CHEETAS at various DoD testing ranges and labs, ensuring seamless operation within customer environments.
• Collaborate with system administrators and software developers to troubleshoot and resolve deployment issues effectively.
• Work on non-standard hardware stacks and integrate CHEETAS into existing ecosystems, often in secure environments with no internet connectivity.
• Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and provide expert guidance on big data infrastructure installations.
• Document procedures and findings to ensure repeatability and clarity in operations.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance is mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, etc.) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant DoD experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in big data environments and 3 years with SQL Server Big Data Cluster, CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, and Windows Server.
• Proven ability to deploy and configure Big Data and Knowledge Management tools in an enterprise setting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to become a subject matter expert on CHEETAS deployments.

Nice to Have

• Experience in government/defense labs and familiarity with DoD acquisition programs.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity policies and distributed testing architectures.
• Ability to mentor engineers with varying skill levels.
