Big Data Operations Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are looking for a Big Data Operations Engineer remote to join our Research and AI department's Big Data Team in Limassol, Cyprus. This role is crucial as you will be responsible for creating, operating, and supporting our Big Data and AI infrastructure. You will work on ambitious projects, including the development of our Data Lake, while being part of a friendly and professional team.

What You'll Do

• Manage Kubernetes cluster environments on bare-metal and container infrastructure, including service allocation and configuration for the cluster, capacity planning, performance tuning, and ongoing monitoring.
• Implement and operate Data Lake solutions using S3 and Trino.
• Deploy and maintain Spark on Kubernetes.
• Ensure data protection according to company security policies.
• Provide monitoring and alerting of services to ensure optimal performance.
• Participate in the architecture development of the Data Platform.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in deploying and maintaining the Hadoop Ecosystem, including the Spark framework.
• Deep understanding of Hadoop and Spark cluster security, networking connectivity, and IO throughput.
• Working knowledge of containers (e.g., Docker, containerd) and major orchestrators (e.g., Kubernetes, Rancher).
• Understanding of object storage solutions based on S3.
• Excellent knowledge of Linux and experience with automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
• General knowledge of Java, Python, or Go, and SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD principles in the data processing area.
• Strong working knowledge of disaster recovery, incident management, and security best practices.
