AI & Software Engineer - Remote Position at Cito

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced AI & Software Engineer to join our team at Cito. This remote position allows you to not only write code but also build a complete AI product. You will be instrumental in developing Cera, an AI agent that automates logistics processes, from email capture to price negotiations and order transmission. You will work on real processes, with real customers, making a genuine impact.

What You'll Do

• Develop features end-to-end using Django for the backend and React for the frontend, ensuring seamless integration with REST APIs and WebSockets.
• Maintain and enhance our AI agent pipelines, focusing on data extraction, validation, and decision logic.
• Build evaluation and observability tooling, including test datasets, prompt versioning, quality metrics, and regression monitoring.
• Write tests, review code, and ensure that our AI outputs remain reliable and consistent.
• Work with LLM APIs, observability tools (e.g., Langfuse), and email/messaging integrations.
• Contribute your own ideas on how to automate processes and improve our AI agents.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Strong Python skills, particularly with Django.
• Basic knowledge of React and TypeScript.
• Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, or similar) and an understanding of how to structure prompts and reliably process outputs.
• Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL), REST APIs, and async patterns.
• Ability to take ownership of features from start to finish, including the less glamorous parts, as we are a small team.
• Pragmatic approach: prefer a working solution over a perfect concept.
• Fluent in both German and English.

Nice to Have

• Experience in logistics or related fields.
• Familiarity with cloud services and deployment.
• Knowledge of machine learning principles.
