About the Role

We're hiring a VP of Social Media Strategy to lead our remote team at 1440. In this pivotal role, you will define and execute our social media vision, strategy, and brand presence across various platforms. This position is not just about managing channels; it's about shaping how 1440 engages culturally, visually, and editorially in social spaces. As the VP of Social Media Strategy, you will be instrumental in crafting long-term strategies that ensure brand consistency and translate our company priorities into impactful social storytelling.

What You'll Do

  • Own and evolve a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with 1440’s mission and business goals.
  • Grow and develop social platforms to amplify 1440’s brand and increase awareness among diverse audiences, including C-level decision-makers.
  • Develop testing strategies and a monetization roadmap for our social platforms.
  • Collaborate with Editorial, Audio, and Video teams to repurpose content for social use, reinforcing our cross-channel efforts.
  • Transform social platforms into effective customer acquisition channels for our Daily Digest and various newsletters.
  • Incorporate social assets into sponsored content packages across key cultural events.
  • Demonstrate strong visual, design, and storytelling instincts to create polished, on-brand social content.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging platforms, and algorithm changes to maintain our competitive edge.
  • Identify cultural moments where 1440 can authentically participate or lead.
  • Analyze social performance metrics and share insights with the team to drive improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in social media management, with a proven track record of building a brand's social identity.
  • Background in media, audience-first brands, or publishing is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various social media platforms and their unique audiences.
  • Creative thinker with problem-solving skills in a small team environment.
  • Self-motivated and ambitious, with a passion for making an impact.
