Unitizer Machine Operator - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Unitizer Machine Operator - Remote Opportunity to join our team at Pratt Industries. This role is essential in operating the console that controls automatic palletizing equipment, ensuring efficient sorting, transferring, bagging, wrapping, and stacking of corrugated containers on pallets. As a Unitizer Machine Operator, you will play a vital role in maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.

What You'll Do

• Operate the unitizer and related equipment, ensuring accurate placement of bands and stretch wrap.
• Scan barcodes on units and ensure correct stacking patterns for optimal efficiency.
• Complete necessary reports, including Production, Safety, and Quality Data.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Maintain equipment proactively and submit maintenance work orders as needed.
• Train and cross-train assistants and utility helpers on operational duties.
• Adhere to production schedules and comply with all safety and quality standards.
• Make recommendations for optimizing production schedules to meet cost, quality, and service goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Forklift Operator’s Certification may be required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
• Dependability and commitment to completing tasks on time.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Willingness to work any shift, including overtime and weekends as needed.
• Adaptability to deal with frequent changes and unexpected events.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a similar manufacturing role.
• Knowledge of quality control standards and practices.
• Previous experience operating palletizing equipment.
