Tech Lead Java Developer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

Join our dynamic international team as a Tech Lead Java Developer in a remote capacity, where you'll embrace the adventure of working abroad! This role focuses on the development of back-end website applications using an AWS environment and KIRO, an agentic AI-powered Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Candidates should be based within 2 hours of Brussels or willing to relocate. Fluency in English is required, and while a work permit is necessary, it is not provided. This position is open for contractors.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development of back-end website applications using AWS and KIRO.
• Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
• Implement core business logic and create servers and databases for functionality.
• Design and implement data storage solutions while ensuring security and data protection.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Design and develop APIs, participating in the creation of scalable software.
• Maintain code integrity and organization while writing clean, functional code on the back-end.
• Compile and analyze data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement.
• Test and fix bugs or other coding issues while meeting both technical and consumer needs.
• Write technical documentation to support development processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
• 8+ years of Java development experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a lead role.
• Excellent knowledge of HTTP and API design, JEE, and REST or SOAP APIs.
• Proficiency in Java and Angular, along with asynchronous communication techniques like JMS & Kafka.
• Strong understanding of integration testing best practices.
• Experience with back-end languages and frameworks such as Java, PHP, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• Fluent in English.

Nice to Have

• Certifications in JEE, Business Process Management, microservice architectures, and API design.
