About the Role
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer - Accelerator Operations Technology to join our dynamic team at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This Software Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative software solutions that enhance the performance and reliability of our systems. As a software engineer, you will work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, focusing on the integration of your work into multiple projects at LANSCE.
What You'll Do
- Analyze and solve complex problems related to software, hardware, applications, and operating systems.
- Engage in programming, scripting, troubleshooting, and system configuration.
- Provide ongoing support to accelerator teams, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Participate in the software engineering lifecycle, contributing to system interoperability and architecture analysis.
- Mentor junior engineers and document results effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong understanding of compiled languages such as C, C++, and/or Java.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, bash, Tcl, and Perl.
- Experience with Linux systems and tools, as well as CI/CD processes using git.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with software debugging tools such as gdb or valgrind.
- Knowledge of SQL relational databases and REST API development.
- Familiarity with embedded systems and virtualization technologies.
