Senior Systems Engineer - Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Sotalent. This Senior Systems Engineer remote position offers the opportunity to support high-availability operations through hands-on technical ownership of computerized systems infrastructure. You will play a key role in supporting process automation and QC laboratory environments, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, compliant, and production-ready.

What You'll Do

• Provide infrastructure support for automation, analytics, QC, and operational systems including servers, networks, storage, workstations, and client devices.
• Maintain system integrity and identify performance, reliability, and security improvements.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across production and laboratory environments.
• Author and execute commissioning and validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ, test scripts).
• Own change requests and actively participate in change control processes.
• Support root cause investigations as the Operations Information Systems (OIS) representative.
• Review and update SOPs, functional specifications, and work instructions following CAPAs and system/process changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10+ years applying IT principles in regulated, high-availability production or lab systems.
• Experience supporting process automation systems, preferably in biotech or pharma.
• Hands-on experience with Syncade.
• Strong documentation skills (networks, interfaces, data flows, infrastructure).
• Proficiency in Windows, Linux, Unix, and Cisco networking.
• Strong experience with SQL Server, OSIsoft PI, and working knowledge of VBScript, .NET, and SQL.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and deployment tools (e.g., Veeam, Acronis, Ghost).
