Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Backend-Leaning for AI Startup

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Backend-Leaning) to join our innovative AI-native team in San Francisco. As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in building a personal AI assistant for knowledge workers. This position offers end-to-end ownership of features, allowing you to take full responsibility from conception through architecture, implementation, and iteration. This is not just a ticket-taking position; you'll be integral to our product development and user engagement.

What You'll Do

• Own features from conception through architecture, implementation, shipping, and iteration.
• Handle backend-heavy work with some infrastructure and DevOps responsibilities.
• Work directly with users to translate feedback into experiments and shipped improvements.
• Build on top of AI models and agentic workflows, understanding model interaction patterns.
• Engage in a fast-moving, ambiguity-tolerant environment where velocity is key.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience as a full-stack engineer with a backend focus.
• Strong systems design skills and comfort with infrastructure ownership.
• Experience building AI-enabled products and understanding agentic workflows.
• Ability to operate independently with high agency in ambiguous situations.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, AWS, and additional infrastructure providers.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI model integrations and agent loops.
• Deep ML expertise is not required, but a foundational understanding is beneficial.
