Senior Software Engineer - Solr Remote Position

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Solr Remote to join our dynamic team at Breuninger. In this role, you will design, plan, and develop customer-centric features for our E-Commerce and Multichannel platform's Search Engine. You will take ownership of the entire development process in an agile environment, from architecture design to continuous deployments and maintenance.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with your team to create and implement high-performance search solutions using Apache Solr and related technologies.
  • Drive technical decisions in coordination with stakeholders, ensuring quality and performance standards are met.
  • Actively participate in the development of vector-based search systems and utilize language models for query interpretation.
  • Utilize your experience with modern web frameworks such as SpringBoot, Rails, or Laravel to enhance our tech stack.
  • Engage in infrastructure work, including AWS and Docker container technologies.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to their technical development.
  • Evaluate complex feature efforts, balancing technical excellence with business impact.
  • Continuously build knowledge in search technologies and share insights with your team.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in developing high-performance search solutions with Apache Solr or similar technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Opensearch).
  • Strong proficiency in at least one object-oriented or functional programming language, preferably Java or Kotlin.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluent in German (B2 level) and proficient in English.
  • Curiosity for new technologies and a willingness to explore unfamiliar areas.
  • Experience in agile development environments.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with hybrid search approaches.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching team members.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices.
