Senior Software Engineer - Site Reliability Engineering (Remote)

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Site Reliability Engineering to join our innovative team at Checkr. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Site Reliability Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our data platform. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while contributing to a mission-driven company recognized on Forbes' Cloud 100 2025 List.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate and drive architectural discussions within the SRE team and with cross-functional teams.
• Lead projects and contribute to the SRE team’s technical roadmap to enable engineering and help Checkr customers.
• Design, build, ship, and maintain the core observability libraries, tools, and patterns used by all of Checkr’s engineering teams.
• Participate in a cross-organization incident response team, driving continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across the stack, focusing on performance, availability, and data quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years focused on reliability, scalability, and efficiency of distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in developing solutions using Python (preferred), Go, or Ruby in Linux environments.
• Experience developing and operating production systems in AWS or Azure using Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
• Expertise in observability and operational excellence, including monitoring tools like Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.
