Senior Software Engineer - Security & Privacy Focus

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Security & Privacy) to join our team in a fully remote capacity. What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and deliver security and privacy features for web applications and platform services.
• Review and guide implementation choices across engineering teams to ensure secure and compliant architecture.
• Lead by example in code quality, security best practices, and team collaboration, fostering transparency and empathy.
• Conduct internal and external security and privacy reviews, including threat modeling and risk assessments.
• Maintain and improve security-critical components, addressing technical debt and operational issues.
• Provide support for application security and privacy incidents, monitoring, and response.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement features and improvements aligned with platform goals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, ideally with a focus on security or privacy.
• Strong understanding of web application development, with experience in PHP and JavaScript preferred.
• Experience developing secure software and security-focused product features.
• Ability to break down complex projects into actionable tasks and mentor less experienced team members.
• Familiarity with testing, observability, and operational excellence practices.
• Ability to explain complex security issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in remote, distributed teams across multiple time zones.
• Interest in evolving security skills, including identifying and mitigating application-level vulnerabilities.

Nice to Have

• Experience with anti-abuse mechanisms, threat modeling, secure design patterns, or open-source contributions.
