Senior Software Engineer - Localization for Mozilla

About the Role

Join Mozilla as a Senior Software Engineer (Localization) and play a pivotal role in enhancing our localization efforts for products used by millions worldwide. What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain Python and JavaScript libraries that support Mozilla’s localization infrastructure, including tools like moz-l10n.
• Enhance localization and internationalization features within the Firefox codebase to improve accessibility and adaptability across languages.
• Collaborate with engineers and program managers to design and implement new features for Pontoon, our Django-based Translation Management System.
• Engage with our community of volunteer developers and localizers to support Mozilla’s localization initiatives.
• Work effectively with teammates and internal clients across various regions and time zones.

Requirements

• Strong experience in developing and maintaining libraries and tools using Python and JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of web technologies, APIs, and modern development workflows.
• Experience with open source development practices and community collaboration.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team across time zones.
• Excellent communication skills, with a focus on clarity in both technical and non-technical discussions.
• Professional fluency in English (written and verbal).

Nice to Have

• Experience with internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) concepts, tools, or workflows.
• Programming experience in Rust and C++.
• Fluency in another language and understanding of linguistic diversity.
