Senior Software Developer - Life Sciences Research

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer for Life Sciences Research to join our dynamic team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). In this remote position, you will play a crucial role in advancing our research initiatives, particularly in the field of bioinformatics. Your expertise will help us develop cutting-edge software solutions that facilitate scientific progress in life sciences.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and implementation of visual interfaces for OpenEBench, enhancing user experience in bioinformatics research.
• Develop, document, and maintain research software for biological data integration, adhering to ELIXIR guidelines.
• Collaborate with ELIXIR platforms and communities, participating in regular discussions and meetings.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members at the TechBioLab, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
• Contribute to the development of Trusted Research Environments that enable secure data usage under configurable conditions.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or Multimedia Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency in web development frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular, or React.
• Experience in User-Centered Design and database management (SQL and NoSQL).
• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux systems and software quality management.

Nice to Have

• Experience with software containers (Docker, Singularity) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
