Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Cloud FinOps

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Cloud FinOps team at Hopper. This remote Senior Site Reliability Engineer position involves managing a large infrastructure in Google Cloud that supports hundreds of engineers, providing a first-class experience to millions of end users worldwide. You will be passionate about automating processes and ensuring systems remain optimized, scalable, reliable, and secure.

What You'll Do

• Drive projects that enhance cost efficiency, such as reducing network egress costs by eliminating unnecessary headers.
• Optimize warehouse data usage and select the most efficient storage solutions, like cold storage for infrequently accessed data.
• Ensure well-optimized autoscaling for databases and compute resources.
• Improve cost attribution processes to provide clear visibility into costs for all teams.
• Participate in incident support and be part of the on-call rotation for platform incidents.
• Contribute to solving infrastructure-related issues and approve PRs requiring platform supervision.
• Collaborate with a small, efficient team of SREs to enhance system reliability.

Requirements

• Strong background in SRE, DevOps, Software Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and system design capabilities.
• Good communication skills and a passion for remote work opportunities in DevOps.
• Proficiency in major cloud providers, preferably Google Cloud.
• Experience with SQL, containers, Kubernetes, and related tools like Kustomize and Helm.
• Knowledge of service mesh technologies, preferably Istio.
• Familiarity with networking concepts, including DNS, TLS, and certificates.
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog.
• Understanding of security practices including IAM, RBAC, and network security.
• Competence in scripting with Bash and Python or other scripting languages.

Nice to Have

• Experience with CI/CD processes.
• Familiarity with database technologies.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization technologies.
