Research Engineer - Agentic AI Training Environments (Remote)

About the Role

We're hiring a Research Engineer - Agentic AI Training Environments to join our dynamic team at Anthropic. In this remote position, you'll play a crucial role in developing the next generation of training environments for agentic AI systems, ensuring they are safe, interpretable, and reliable.

What You'll Do

• Build the next generation of agentic environments that push the boundaries of AI capabilities.
• Design and implement rigorous evaluations that measure real capability in AI systems.
• Collaborate across research and infrastructure teams to ship environments into production training.
• Debug and iterate rapidly across research and production ML stacks.
• Contribute to a vibrant research culture through technical discussions and collaborative problem-solving.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Strong software engineering skills with experience in building robust infrastructure.
• Experience in reinforcement learning and designing training environments.
• Ability to balance research exploration with engineering implementation.
• Comfortable with uncertainty and adaptable to shifting landscapes.

Nice to Have

• Industry experience with large language model training or evaluation.
• Experience in building RL environments or large-scale ML infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in sandboxing, containerization, or distributed systems.
• Published influential work in relevant ML areas.
