Senior Quality Assurance Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our growing team at HomeBuddy. This is a fantastic opportunity for a QA professional looking to work remotely and make a significant impact in the home improvement industry.

What You'll Do

• Perform comprehensive manual and exploratory testing for new features to ensure they meet requirements and provide a great user experience.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts (UI and API) within the existing automation framework.
• Create and execute test cases, planning test runs that combine manual scenarios with automated checks for full coverage.
• Collaborate with developers to identify testing requirements early and ensure high-quality product delivery.
• Monitor and analyze automated test results in the CI/CD pipeline, taking ownership of debugging failures and reporting defects.
• Contribute to the improvement of QA documentation, including test cases, bug reports, and internal testing instructions.
• Actively participate in team processes (PBRs, daily meetings, retrospectives) to provide testing input, testing estimates, and advocate for quality best practices.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in manual testing methodologies, including test design, requirement analysis, and exploratory testing techniques.
• Proficiency in UI testing, using both automated tools and manual clients.
• Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset for finding edge cases and documenting clear, reproducible bug reports.
• Knowledge of SQL and database basics, enabling you to verify data integrity and perform deeper backend testing.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Sentry, Grafana, Loki) to help investigate and reproduce production issues.
• Great communication skills and a proactive attitude toward collaborating with developers and stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Practical programming skills (TypeScript, JavaScript is a plus) and hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks (Playwright is a plus).
• Experience with Git for version control.
• Proficiency in API testing, using both automated tools and manual clients.
• Basic understanding of Docker for running tests in containers.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., BitBucket, GitHub Actions), including the ability to run tests and investigate pipeline failures.

Nice to Have

• Experience with performance, security, or reliability testing.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and testing strategies (AWS is a plus).
• Basic experience with Mobile testing and responsive web testing across different devices.
