Senior Java Developer - Remote Position at Hippo Digital

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Java Developer to join our team at Hippo Digital. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while crafting high-quality, user-centered digital solutions. As a Senior Java Developer, you'll be embedded within multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring seamless integration across the stack.

What You'll Do

• Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within your squad, producing user-centered software based on business requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver innovative solutions to client challenges.
• Design and manage software development pipelines, proactively resolving issues and bottlenecks.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, presenting prototypes and progress clearly.
• Participate in recruitment efforts and support the professional development of fellow engineers.
• Promote Hippo’s Engineering Herd through writing blogs, workshops, and conferences.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Java Developer with a strong command of core Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with RESTful API services and agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Azure DevOps.
• Experience in GOV/NHS projects is highly desirable.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kotlin and other JavaScript frameworks (Node, React, Angular).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Previous experience in a consulting environment.
