Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Remote Role at ROOST

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join ROOST, a leader in building open-source safety infrastructure for the AI-powered internet. This Senior Infrastructure Engineer remote position allows you to contribute to designing, implementing, and optimizing large-scale systems that enhance online safety. You will collaborate with a dynamic team, including our Technical Design Committee and the open-source community, to drive innovation in safety tools.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure components for ROOST projects, including Osprey and Coop.
• Drive the evolution of ROOST’s open-source safety tools, ensuring they are performant and widely usable.
• Own the readiness of ROOST projects for scaling across containerized services like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement best practices for CI/CD, observability, and logging to ensure system health.
• Lead decision analysis and consensus-building among stakeholders on complex architectural decisions.
• Participate in a culture of high-quality execution and teamwork, focusing on code quality and developer experience.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in software design and development, with 1-2 years in infrastructure engineering.
• Proficiency in languages such as Python, TypeScript, and Rust.
• Experience with message brokers, database systems, and observability tooling.
• Strong attention to detail in reliability, scalability, and security.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven record of working with diverse teams.

• Understanding of the open-source ecosystem and prior contributions.
• Experience with scaling systems and performance optimization.
• Background in startups or small team environments.
