About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Engineer to join our team at Polygon Labs, focusing on blockchain infrastructure. This Senior Engineer remote position is perfect for those passionate about distributed systems and peer-to-peer networking. You will be instrumental in enhancing the reliability and performance of our Polygon PoS chain, working with a talented team across various time zones.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and optimize peer-to-peer networking components in our core clients: Bor, Erigon, and Heimdall.
  • Analyze and improve network stability by identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies in our protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) efforts related to network issues.
  • Collaborate with internal protocol and infrastructure teams to align client behavior with network goals.
  • Contribute to documentation and architecture discussions around networking layers and system resilience.
  • Stay updated with trends in distributed systems and peer-to-peer infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in systems or infrastructure engineering, particularly in distributed systems or blockchain clients.
  • Deep expertise in Go (Golang) and strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/UDP).
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems in live production systems.
  • Experience with peer-to-peer networking protocols or low-level infrastructure systems.
  • Comfortable working in a remote, asynchronous environment across time zones.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with blockchain or decentralized network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with the Ethereum ecosystem and Polygon PoS architecture.
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting technical findings.
